Viva Vigan!

A feast is held in Vigan City on January 25th each year. It is observed on the feast day of St. Paul the Apostle's conversion. The patron saint of Vigan City is St. Paul. The Metropolitan Cathedral, the primary cathedral of Vigan, is devoted to St. Paul and is the heart of the Nueva Segovia Archdiocese. Along with the church, the St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur is Vigan's largest Catholic educational facility and is named in honor of the patron. The Vigan City Fiesta often goes on for a few days. The celebration of Vigan's cityhood anniversary, which is observed annually on January 27, falls within this time frame.

Filipinos have a tradition of going back to their hometowns to celebrate their fiestas with family and friends, and Biguenos from all over the nation and even from abroad visit Vigan to participate in this tradition. Thousands of tourists from other regions of the Philippines and abroad join them in taking in the parades, street dancing, and cultural performances organized by the local government with the assistance of the local businesses and communities. Along with a touring carnival, there are also food fairs and art and craft displays. Longganisa Festival celebrations take place during Vigan City Fiesta days.

The city hosts a parade with a longganisa theme, and it once tried to set a record for having the largest longganisa ever constructed.

It was good to see that everyone was still excited to celebrate the fiesta even though there hadn't been a celebration like this for two or three years. As we watched the Longganisa Street Dancing, many people were grinning widely. To document their recollections, everyone shot pictures and films. Fortunately, we were able to shoot pictures and videos while we enjoyed the street dance. The using of mask was still remembered while viewing, though, because COVID 19 hasn't vanished and might still be wandering around freely. Once our safety has been guaranteed, we are all quite glad that we may finally celebrate our fiestas as we once did.

A Decade of Dreams

Hey there! I'm just a 16-year-old girl with big dreams and an even bigger heart. Right now, I'm aiming for all the good things life has to offer. But when I imagine what life will be like in ten years, I can see myself living my dream as a nurse. I truly believe that I have what it takes to make this dream come true and find success along the way. And you know what's even more amazing? I can picture myself sharing this incredible journey with the person I love, the one who's been there for me through thick and thin. Let's dive into my vision for the future, where passion, achievement, and love intertwine to create a life full of fulfillment and happiness.  Ten years from now, I'm surrounded by the hustle and bustle of a hospital, wearing that cool nurse's uniform and a smile that's ready to make a difference. Becoming a nurse is my ultimate goal, and I know it won't be a walk in the park. But hey, I'm up for the challenge! From hitting the book...

2nd Phase

The second quarter of this academic year was really challenging after surviving the first. Compared to the first one, it was very different. I felt that our lessons were a little more difficult to comprehend. I have to be honest and say that I haven't been performing well in some topics, possibly due to a lack of comprehension and concentration. However, attending class was still a lot of fun.  This 2nd quarter, I have felt how deep our responsibilities as students are.  We had a lot of activities to make, and projects we should finish. We had sleepless nights finishing our research, but, we survived. With our exams coming up, I know that it will be much tougher this time, but I know that we'll be able to pull it through again. We survived the 1st quarter, and I know that we'll survive 2nd quarter and the upcoming quarters much better than we did with the 1st one.  This is still the second phase; it could be difficult, but we must all be patient and try our best. W...

Mayo Uno, Labor Day

The first day of May marks a significant day for the Filipino workforce, as it is celebrated as Labor Day across the country. This public holiday is a tribute to the contributions and hard work of workers in various sectors, from manufacturing to healthcare. The celebration also highlights the importance of workers' rights and welfare, emphasizing the need for fair compensation, safe working conditions, and adequate social protection. Throughout history, workers' struggles for better working conditions and labor rights have been a global issue. International Workers' Day, also known as May Day, originated in the late 19th century as a commemoration of the Haymarket affair in Chicago, where workers were protesting for an eight-hour workday. Since then, the holiday has become a symbol of workers' solidarity and a call for social and economic justice. In the Philippines, Labor Day is celebrated with various events, including rallies and parades, where workers' unions a...
